Poppy Running with Abandon

by | Aug 26, 2024

Recently the granddaughter Poppy’s previous owner visited and saw Poppy and said she looked like a different Dog.

I think Grandad just being an older chap wasn’t able to be as physical with Poppy so she was a little more docile with him.

It made me think of one of the most wonderful parts of having Poppy and that’s watching her progress.

She’s really come alive more and more every day. She’s playful and silly and runs without abandon. I captured it on Video and absolutely live it.

It’s great because she’s not running after something, not chasing a ball, she’s just running because, well I don’t need to tell you why just look at the look on her face.

You can see she’s just absolutely loving it. This is I guess even progress from the An old Girl makes an old man cry post.

I took a couple videos on the day and couldn’t choose between the two. What do you think?

Running with abandon again.

Either way it’s so lovely to watch.

I’m certain having Issy as her little sister has picked her up too.

Issy is a constant ball of energy when we’re out. But she’s still so gentle with Poppy.

I wouldn’t notice if it wasn’t for the wonderful group we’re in but watching how Issy interacts with the younger dogs, and then how she is with Poppy, it’s such a precious contrast.

They’re all more gentle around Poppy and I think the results speak for themselves.

By far one of the greatest's gifts I've been given in life is a beautiful 13yo Springer Spaniel called Poppy who needed a home, needed to be loved, and was going to give untold riches in return. Watching her flourish makes me smile with every cell in my body. Read on...

Hi, I’m Scott. Thanks for checking out The Poppy Effect site. In November 2023 I took on a 13yo Springer Spaniel that needed a home. At the time I thought it was the right thing to do and didn’t think there’d be much to it. Well, suffice it to say I was completely unprepared for the effect she’d have on me. So stick around and take a look hopefuly after a while you might feel The Poppy Effect too x
