Well, they say it’s rude, but in this case, when the Lady in question doesn’t speak English I think we can make an exception.
You see I think it’s a wonderful point of discussion. Poppy turns 15 today which for a dog is a ripe old age. And what’s more she’s a healthy happy 15 and that’s something definitely worth discussing.

We’re also about a month away from the 2nd anniversary of me rehoming Poppy and honestly the effect she’s had my life is so profound 2 years sounds impossibly short. I can’t remember a time when she wasn’t around.
We saw the Vet just over a week ago and Poppy is doing very well all things considered.
She’s certainly showing signs of age in things like her eyesight, hearing and general ability to get around but on the whole she’s doing great.
She’s developed a condition called hypometria which isn’t unusual for old dogs. It’s a loss of Proprioception is the body’s sense of where its limbs are in space.
Just means she tends to floop about sometimes, struggle to balance on my amtico floor down stairs and I have to carry her down the stairs now as well as up (been carrying her up for months). Downstairs carrying is just because she’s likely to lose her balance.
Nothing we can’t deal with.

We still go for wonderful walks almost every single day. She still loves the stroller I got her just over a year ago and spends a little time in it on walks but mostly gets out and explores the world around us.
I get so proud of her she still loves to get out as soon as we hit the path away from the roads and walks around on her own probably 90% of the time and then just gets in the stroller when it all get’s a bit much.
I live in the North of England so on those rare occasions when the weather is too bad for a walk she welcomes a lovely day on the couch watching movies keeping her hooman warm.

We’ve learned a lot in two short years. Things like…
Road trips are fun…
But tiring

Sandwiches are NOT just
for hoomans
It’s always important
that my hooman stays in sight

Dogs are for cuddling
on the couch not sitting on the floor
If you lay on your back
Hoomans give you belly rubs

And the most important thing in the world is cuddles cuddles and then more cuddles…

Thanks for being around this far if you stick around I’ve got enough energy in me for a few adventures yet…
Just ahh.. just give me one more of those belly rubs first.
