If there's room in your home they'll find room in your heart
The Poppy Effect

How it all started (part 2)

by | Nov 25, 2023

So Poppy was with me now and the adventure begins. She arrived about 4 in the afternoon. They dropped her off, gave me a rundown and quite a few supplies like food and leashes and then it was just Poppy and me. Fortunately my friend Amy who organised the meeting in the first place, lives just 3 doors down with her husband and two children. Her Aunty, Uncle and Grandma are just around the corner and visiting that night, with their dogs. That might sound overwhelming but honestly if you knew these people like I do you’d know it’s the perfect introduction for Poppy. We headed down around 6pm. It was a lovely night and Poppy fit in instantly. Upon reflection I think it was the best way to ease her in because she’s such a social dog I don’t think she had time to feel anxious.

All in all was a great night, I made new friends, I got some presents, and I got a new Human.

Now it’s time for some sleep…

So after a few days days of back and forth Poppy had arrived and she stole my heart the moment she walked in the door. She's such a gentle soul but of course I haven't had a dog for so long so to say I was nervous was an understatement. Luckily for me, help was at hand.

Hi, I’m Scott. Thanks for checking out The Poppy Effect site. In November 2023 I took on a 13yo Springer Spaniel that needed a home. At the time I thought it was the right thing to do and didn’t think there’d be much to it. Well, suffice it to say I was completely unprepared for the effect she’d have on me. So stick around and take a look hopefuly after a while you might feel The Poppy Effect too x
